European Demand of Steel may Improve in 2015


According to European Steel Association, European steel exports and domestic demand are expected to improve this year, with activity in the steel intensive sectors rising by 2.2%.

With the exception of the automotive sector, according to Eurofer, most of the sectors saw their earlier prognosis downgraded slightly, which is set to increase by 3.8% in 2015. The association will see apparent steel consumption in the EU growing by around 2% to 149 million tons in 2015.

Finished steel imported into EU is estimated to have risen by 19% year-on-year in 2014 and it may continue to rise. It forecasts that deliveries from third-country exporters will rise on average 2% per year in 2015 and 2016.
